Jean Baptiste HUET (Paris 1745-1811) Portrait of a woman with a hat covered with roses Pen and black ink, watercolor. Signed and dated lower right J. B. Huet 1780. 18,2 x 13,2 cm Famous for his pastoral scenes, Jean-Baptiste Huet was also an appreciated portraitist. He made in particular a portrait of his wife called The Reader, in black stone and red chalk, engraved by Gilles Demarteau. Our drawing was also engraved by Demarteau as part of a series on fashion (see anonymous sale, Paris, Hôtel Dassault, December 18, 2014, (Artcurial) n°337, reproduced).
