Marcel DAMBOISE (1903-1992) Bust of Gabriel Audisio, first version, 1963 Studio plaster Not signed 44 x 25 x 21 cm Inv. MD-S-057i-00a Provenance: Artist's studio, by descent Author of essays, poems and novels, Gabriel Audisio (1900-1978) was a writer with a passion for the Mediterranean world. Born in Marseille, he spent the first part of his childhood in this city and the second in Algiers. Damboise and Audisio certainly met around 1950 in Algiers. The sculptor realized the bust of his friend in 1963. Plaster casts are known, as well as a bronze proof purchased by the state and now kept in the Despiau-Wlérick museum in Mont-de-Marsan.
