Marcel DAMBOISE (1903-1992) - Lot 240
Marcel DAMBOISE (1903-1992) Bust of Anne, 1970-1973 Studio plaster Not signed 34 x 24 x 17 cm Inv. MD-S-034j-00 Provenance: Artist's studio, by descent In this portrait, Anne, one of the artist's two granddaughters, is 2-3 years old. Marcel Damboise depicts her in a bust reminiscent of the so-called "Italian" busts (the figure is cut off by a horizontal line under the armpits), and thus the sculpted portraits of the Florentine Renaissance. Other plaster casts, terracottas and a bronze made by the founder Jean Cappelli exist of this bust.
