Marcel Gimond (1894-1961) - Lot 127
Marcel Gimond (1894-1961) Portrait of a woman Bronze with golden patina Signed "Gimond" and numbered "2/8" Bears the founder's stamp "CIRE PERDUE BISCEGLIA". Bust height 37 cm, resting on a wooden base H. 12,5 cm Related literature Marcel Gimond 1894-196 : cente- naire, cat. exp., château d'Aubenas, 5 August-30 September 1994, Aubenas, 1994. Through these two portraits, Marcel Gimond shows his attachment to figurative sculpture. He mainly creates busts of famous people, politicians and artists. He is particularly attached to the physical and psychological study of the models. The balance of the composition and the nature of the expression of these heads translate his search for reality and life. The sculptor was inspired by his own reflections on sculpture, his training at the École des Beaux-Arts in Lyon and his travels during which he discovered the great sculptors of Antiquity and the Renaissance.
