Alfred Jean Halou (1875-1939) - Lot 79
Alfred Jean Halou (1875-1939) The Bather with the bush, before 1934 Plaster Signed (on the side): "A.J. Halou 42 x 21 x 14.5 cm Highly appreciated by his contemporaries, Alfred Jean Halou (1875-1939) is particularly known for his female statuettes, with full forms, smooth modeling and calm attitudes. The sculptor was particularly fond of figures of bathers, nymphs, or naiads. The Bather with a bush, probably composed to be seen in low angle, could be a caryatid or an element for a fountain project. A bronze print of La Baigneuse au buisson, acquired by the State in 1933, belongs to the collections of the Musée National d'Art Moderne. It is now on deposit at La Piscine - Musée d'art et d'industrie André Diligent in Roubaix.
