Raymond Émile COUVEGNES (1893-1985) The Coronation of Work About 1931. Bronze group with a light brown patina shaded with green. Signed R. Couvegnes on the edge of the terrace. Bears the mark of the founder Fonderie des Artistes Paris and the mention Les amis de Louis Lamatte maire de Montdidier à l'occasion de sa promotion dans l'ordre de la Légion d'honneur 7 juin 1931. H.85 cm Terrace W. 74,5 D. 38 cm A student of Jean-Antoine Injalbert at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris, Raymond Couvegnes won the first Prix de Rome in 1927 with his relief The Invention of the Horn of Plenty. He created the School of Fine Arts in Boulogne-Billancourt. His career is essentially based on large commissions for public monuments.
