Ernest Henri DUBOIS (1863-1931) The Arab Falconer Bronze with golden patina. Edition between 1906-07 and 1923. Signed Ernest Dubois. Bears the stamp of the founder Jollet et Cie Bronzes Paris. H. 69 cm Base in pink marble and gilt bronze H. 7 cm RELATED LITERATURE: Stéphane Richemond, Les Orientalistes: dictionnaire des sculpteurs, XIXe-XXe siècles, Paris, les Éditions de l'Amateur, model reproduced p. 86. A student of Alexandre Falguière and Henri Chapu, Ernest Dubois exhibited for the first time at the Salon in 1892. Having been awarded a travel grant by the State, he visited the Orient between 1894 and 1895. He received a gold medal at the 1900 World's Fair. He received several important government commissions, including The Avenger of the Pantheon and the statue of Mansart on the esplanade of the Invalides.
