Louis-Vincent FOUQUET (1803-1869) Young child offering water to a beggar in a street in Cairo Oil on canvas. Signed lower left and trace of dating. 35 x 27 cm Louis-Vincent Fouquet, a pupil of Decamps, described the cabinet of Mr du Sommerard in the oil painting "Chez l'antiquaire ou Cabinet de Mr Du Sommerard, 1836" preserved in the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, but is also well known for his painting Les singes savants preserved in the Louvre.
