Jean OSOUF (1898-1996) - Lot 96
Jean OSOUF (1898-1996) Mask of Coralie 1935-1945 Bronze with light brown patina. Signed J.O on the neck on the left. Bears the founder's stamp CIRE PERDUE A. VALSUANI and the number 6/8 on the left neck. H.35,5 with base H. 12 cm From 1935 to 1945, Jean Osouf made many works of his model Coralie. These busts and heads are an opportunity for the sculptor to study with delicate veracity the behaviour and character of the young girl. The art critic Waldemar George remarked that Osouf's busts of young girls have the sinuous smile of the Angel of Rheims, that 'vincian' smile before the letter which is one of the emblems of French culture.
