Mérimée, Prosper. - The Blue Room. A short story dedicated to Madame de La Rhune. Brussels, Librairie de la Place de la Monnaie, 1872. In-8, in turquoise half-maroquin with corners, spine gilt, author, title and edges gilt (binding Semet et Plumelle) - [2 ff.], VII, 59 pp. title with etching by Bracquemond. Second edition, printed at 129 copies, this one of the 100 on Hollande without justification. The first edition (1871) having been printed in only 3 copies, this one serves as the first edition (Carteret II - p. 154). Talvart and Place specify that the printing is by Poulet-Malassis. The work had been composed for the Empress Eugénie. The name of Mme de La Rhune comes from the eponymous mountain near Biarritz where Eugenie had launched the fashion of mountain excursions.
