MAROT (Clement). - Works [...] revised on several manuscripts and on more than forty editions [...]. The Hague, P. Gosse and J Neaulme, 1731. 6 volumes in-12 (14,8 x 8,4 cm) bound in contemporary brown calf, spines ornamented, caramel (title, author) and old-red (tomaison) labels - rubbing to the bindings, boards, spines and corners, weakened hinges on some volumes, several headpieces faded, a few scattered freckles, small angular lack to t. 2, p. XI, 18th century merchant's label rubbed on vol. 1 and ex-libris of Ch. F. scratched on vol. 6, traces of adhesive on linings - XXIV, 406 pp, XXIV, 406 pp. and [1 f.]; XVI, 428 pp; XXIV, 389 pp; VIII, 387 pp; VIII, 368 pp; XXIV, 392 pp. Attached is a flying note of the time, in-12 (11,8 x 6,8 cm), containing a brief list of books, among which our copy of Marot. Provenance: - Ch. F. - Jacques Eisenmann (bookplate). The edition is accompanied by a preface by Lenglet du Fresnoy, who was responsible for the publication. The works of Clément Marot are accompanied by those of Jean and Michel Marot and the pieces of the Marot-Sagon quarrel are also included. "The edition in 6 vol. in-12 given at the same time as [the one in-4] is more convenient and more attractive". (Brunet, III, 1458).
