Paris, La Compagnie des Libraires Associés, 1771. 8 volumes in-folio bound in full contemporary calf, spines very ornate, title (red) and tome (green) - spines cracked, headbands worn, spidering and leather tears on the boards, corners pierced - interior in good condition. This is the first edition of the "Dictionnaire de Trévoux", published by the Jesuits in 1704 to compete with the "Furetière". This fifth and last edition is a sort of synthesis of lexicographical works from the 16th to the 18th century.
