In-8, bound in full contemporary calf, arms stamped on the boards - boards detached, loss of leather on the spine - 776 pp. with juxtaposed Greek-Latin translation. 2/ - Berthault, Pierre. - Florus Gallicus sive rerum a veteribus gallis bello gestarum epitome. Fifth edition. Paris, Jean Libert, 1647. In-12 in full vellum - traces of binding, body of the book partly detached from the vellum, marginal spotting - [16 ff.], 196 pp, 48 pp. (the author to the reader), [12 ff., index]. Frontispiece-title engraved by Thiboust. Bound with, by the same author and editor: Florus franciscus sive rerum a francis bello gestarum epitome - [12 ff.], 336 pp. (to the reader), [1 p. privilege], [17 ff. index]. 3/ - Ammiani Marcellini. - Rerum sub impp. Constantio, Juliano, Joviano, Valentiniano et Valente, per XXVI annos gestarum. Historia, libris XVIII, ... Lyon (or rather Geneva), Francis Le Preux, 1600. In-8, bound in full tan calf with boards decorated with a Du Seuil-style decoration and in the centre a crown of thorns stamped "Jesus Maria", spine highly ornamented, author in gilt letters, gilt edges - headbands slightly faded, upper margin shorter. These 18 books, the only ones that have come down to us (out of 31), are the most reliable and well-documented source of this period which covers 26 years of history under the reign of 5 Roman emperors. 4/ - Tressan, Count of. - A free translation of Amadis de Gaul. Amsterdam, Paris, Pissot, 1779. 2 volumes in-12 bound in full contemporary calf, spines decorated, title and appendices (red) - 2 headpieces slightly worn, small holes on the boards or the spines - XXXII, 470 pp. ; [2 ff.], 614 pp. This translation by Tressan is based on the first French translation given by des Essarts, the latter having relied on manuscripts in Castilian. 5/ - Montesquieu. - Considerations on the causes of the greatness of the Romans, and of their decadence.
