Editio novissima cæteris omnibus tum correctior, tum auctior. Lugduni, Joannis Antonii Huguetan, 1676. 3 volumes in-folio, bound in brown calf with ornate spines - bindings worn, portrait-frontispiece badly missing. Vol. 1: [20 ff.], 306 pp, [3 ff.], 309-808 pp, [16 ff.] (loss of some letters on the last leaf); Vol. 2: [8 ff.], 363 pp, [2 ff.], 363-786, [9 ff.] p.; Vol. 3: [6 ff.], 696 pp, [6 ff.], tears with loss of text on the first 8 leaves. Sennert (1572-1637) taught at the University of Wittemberg where he died of the plague. He was responsible for advances in various fields: he distinguished scarlet fever from chicken pox, and rubella from scarlet fever. He contributed to the study of scurvy and diseases related to alcoholism. He also added to the knowledge of dysentery. His operas were first published in 1641 but this edition is considered the best.
