Collection of works by Boerhave, Baglivi and Deleboe. 1/ Methodus discendi Artem Medicam, in duas partes divisa. Londini, Sumptibus Societatis, 1744. One volume in-12 bound in contemporary brown calf, spine ribbed and decorated, cold fillet on the boards, gilt fillet on the edges, red edges. renewed endpapers, minor spotting - [17 ff], 514 pp, [13 ff]. This volume was in fact prepared by his pupils. Boerhaave (1668-1738), more than by his discoveries, occupies a prominent place in eighteenth-century medicine as the founder of modern clinical teaching methods. In-4, marbled calf, spine ornamented, red edges - headbands faded, corners worn, boards spotted - [1 f.], xii, 314 pp, [1 f.], 16 pp, [10 ff.], portrait of Alpini in frontispiece. Classic treatise on diagnosis first published in 1601. 4/ Georgii Baglivi. - Opera Omnia medico-practica et anatomica. Editio accuratissima... Lugduni, Petri Bruyset, 1745. In-4, marbled basane, spine ornamented, binding completely worn - 2 corners worn - [3 ff.], XLII, [5 ff.], 918 pp. with portrait in frontispiece and 3 plates. 5/ Francisci Deleboe, Sylvii. - Opera Medica, Tam hactenus inedita, quam variis locis et formis edita ; nunc vero certo ordine disposita, et in unum Volumenta redacta... Editio Altera Correctior et Emendatior. Amsterdolami, Danielem Esevririum, 1680. in-4, brown calf, spine ornamented, spotted edges - lacking at the head and foot of the spine, one corner worn, the others blunted - [4 ff.], 934 pp, [13 ff.], folding portrait in frontispiece (large tear without missing) Franciscus de Le Boë (1614-1672) contributed to the advancement of medicine in many fields, especially in the treatment of tuberculosis. He also allowed the circulation in the Netherlands, where he had settled, of the theory of blood circulation.
