GLE BETE MASK, Ivory Coast Wood with dark brown patina, iron, accidents. H. 32 cm Composite face, mixing human details, in particular the nose and mouth with a stinging tongue and deep philtrum, with animal fangs or butts. The fake eyes are two projected cylinders, the gaze allowed, under the forehead cap, by two rectangular holes. At the top, an iron intended to retain the clothing concealing the wearer. The gle masks came out on the occasion of mourning or in honour of important personalities within the community.
