This sanguine is one of the last drawings executed by Wlérick. After the session, he went to bed. He died eight days later, on 7 March 1944. The model's name was Lucie. "The delicate touch of the material, great finesse and sensitivity give the form a radiance that lives with the atmosphere. The base gives strength and authority to the form which plunges into space with a certain abandon. This drawing breathes admiration, tenderness in a well-established architecture that is bathed in light. Charles Auffret in Robert Wlérick, Actes du colloque de 1995, Éditions musées de Mont-de-Marsan, 1999, p. 62.
