Baltasar LOBO (1910-1993) Kneeling woman without head, 1967-1968 Bronze with brown patina. Signed LOBO on the left leg. Bears the mark of the founder Susse Fondeur Paris and numbered 6/8. H. 25,7 cm RELATED LITERATURE : Joseph-Émile Muller, Lobo, Paris, La Bibliothèque des arts, 1985, model listed under n°256 Son of a stonecutter, Baltasar Lobo studied at the School of Fine Arts in Madrid where he discovered the work of Picasso, Miro and Gargallo. In 1939 he fled Franco's regime. After many adventures, he arrived in Paris and, penniless, went to see Picasso who supported him and found him a studio. He became friends with Henri Laurens. Lobo then turned to a simplification of forms in the tradition of Brâncusi, Arp and Moore. His work has been awarded numerous prizes and public commissions. His work is represented in the greatest museums of modern art. This statuette was produced around 1967-1968 in bronze in eight copies and four artist's proofs by the Parisian founder Susse.
