Jean Osouf (1898-1996) - Lot 88
Jean Osouf (1898-1996) Mask of Coralie 1935-1945 Bronze with light brown patina Signed " J.O " on the neck on the left Bears the founder's stamp " CIRE PERDUE A. VALSUANI" and the number "6/8" on the left neck H. 35.5 with base H. 12 cm From 1935 to 1945, Jean Osouf made many works of his model Coralie. These busts and heads are an opportunity for the sculptor to study with delicate veracity the behaviour and character of the young girl. On the subject of these female busts, the art critic Waldemar George remarks "Osouf finds in his busts of young girls the sinuous smile of the Angel of Reims, that 'vincian' smile before the letter which is one of the emblems of French culture".
