The family of the painter William Laparra had joined him in Chantilly while he was mobilized in the Camouflage section like Despiau. The face of the young Jacquot caught the attention of the sculptor. All synthesis and harmony, conceived in a world in the grip of a bloody war, this child's portrait bears Despiau's hopes in the reconciling power of art. Although not very inclined to duplicate, Despiau had at least seventeen plaster reproductions of this bust made, which he offered to dear friends, a sign of the particular interest he took in this work.
