FRENCH school circa 1800, based on a model by Paul-Louis CYFFLÉ (1724-1806) Henry IV and Sully Publishing terracotta. Accidents and small splinters (fingers). H. 34 cm in a glass cage This terracotta is based on a model initially created by Hubert-François Gravelot, and engraved by Antoine-Jean Duclos, illustrating a scene from the 1762 play by the playwright Charles Collé, La Partie de chasse de Henri IV. It is considered to be the most famous episode of this comedy featuring the first of the Bourbons, Maximilien de Béthune, Duke of Sully. The latter is portrayed after being exonerated of an intrigue against the king led by the Marquis de Concini and de Bellegarde.
