Chiselled and gilded bronze APPLICATION CARD "au Chinois" with rocaille decoration of flowers, foliage and acanthus. It is decorated with a winged dragon and topped by a Chinese in polychrome lacquered and gilded bronze, holding a trident. Enamel dial signed GILLE L'AINÉ. Louis XV period. Dial lily flowers erased. Incomplete movement. H. 68,5 L. 32 cm long. Gille L'AINÉ, signature used by Pierre Gille and his son Pierre, watchmakers in Paris, masters in 1746. Chinese taste develops in the French decorative arts with Watteau, Boucher and Pillement. In the years 1730-1750, under the influence of the Mercier merchants Lazare Duvaux and Hébert, clocks, sconces, chenets, paper plates, etc. were produced, decorated with Chinese "magots", hot decorated in brown, gold and vermilion.
