Through this work, Raymond Martin, a student of Jules Jouant at the École nationale supérieure des arts appliqués et des métiers d'art and a faithful disciple of Robert Wlérick, pays homage to the widely exploited theme of bathers in a classical attitude. The originality of this model lies in the face devoid of features and the way the woman holds the linen covering her lower body. The sculptor thus emphasizes the inner strength of sujet : a woman of her time revealing herself to the viewer.
