Hubert YENCESSE (1900-1987) Portrait of a woman Bronze with a light brown patina. Signed HUBERT YENCESSE. Bears the mark of the foundryman Alexis Rudier Fondeur Paris. Cubic base in original grey marble. H. 49 cm, including base H. 15 cm Born into an artistic milieu and a student at the Dijon School of Fine Arts from 1919, Hubert Yencesse met François Pompon (1855-1933) and became his pupil. He won the Blumenthal Prize in 1934 and then moved to Paris where he began a collaboration with Aristide Maillol until 1936. He received numerous public commissions throughout his career and also taught at the Beaux-Arts de Paris.
