Alfred DUBUCAND (1828-1894) The donkey in Cairo Bronze with a light brown patina. Early proof circa 1876. Signed DUBUCAND on the terrace. It rests on its original moulded wooden base. H. 35 cm, terrace 25 x 13.5 cm, base H. 8 cm Dubucand, no doubt a pupil of Barye, exhibited his orientalist sculptures from 1833 onwards at the Salon. The model of our rare Cairo Ânier is created by the artist in 1876 and was a considerable success at the 1878 World's Fair.
