Bears the stamp SIOT DECAUVILLE PARIS and the n°200H. BIBLIOGRAPHIE : Gérald Ackerman, Jean-Léon Gérôme, catalogue raisonné, model listed under number S.54, pp.326-327. He then executed statuettes, most often painted, inspired by his own paintings. Influenced by Greek, Roman and Egyptian Antiquity, by the Orient and by contemporary history, Gérôme created skillful sculptures with a taste for detail, materials and colour that make his creations with symbolist or "neo-pompeian" accents a body of work that stands apart in the landscape of late 19th-century French sculpture.
