Daniel SABATER Y SALABERT (1888-1951) Goose food Oil on isorel. Signed lower left. Signed and located Paris on the back. 27 x 35 cm A native of Valencia, he studied the great Spanish masters at the Prado de Madrid: Velasquez, Ribera and Goya. From 1912, he stays in Paris where he performs religious compositions for the Little Sisters of Saint Vincent de Paul. His inspiration is strongly indebted to the tragic and grotesque that have been scattered throughout his history in Spanish painting. On the fringes of the avant-garde, he was called "the painter of witches" in the 20th century.
